According to recently published research conducted by a leading international market research company, Global Research & Data Services, the expansion of the global cellular plastic sheet, plate and film industry is forecast to reach 2.0% p.a. in the coming years. Between 2008 and 2014 the market increased with an average annual growth of 7.2%. Currently, cellular sheets, plates and film of polyurethane account for 34.9% of the global demand while the remaining market share is divided between cellular sheets, plates and film of polymers of vinyl chloride (17.3%), cellular sheets, plates and film of polymers of styrene (8.1%), cellular sheets, plates and film of regenerated cellulose (1.3%) and cellular sheets, plates and film of other plastics (38.5%).
China, Germany, Japan, South Korea and the United States represent the largest cellular plastic sheet, plate and film markets while the strongest annual growth is forecast to occur in Philippines (14.8%), Vietnam (12.7%), Macedonia (9.5%), Tanzania (8.6%) and Ethiopia (8.4%).
