“• In January 2015, Ukraine had 6.5 billion tonnes (Bnt) of crude iron ore reserves; ranking seventh globally with a 3.4% share of the global total. The country has 80 iron ore deposits, largely in the form of magnetite ores which are found mainly in Poltava oblast.

• In 2014, the Poltava mine was the largest iron ore producing mine at 30.2Mt, accounting for 39% of the country’s total output that year. The Ingulets GOK mine produced 13.2Mt, followed by the Northern GOK and Central GOK mines with respective production totals of 11.0Mt and 6.4Mt.

• China was the single most important export market for Ukrainian iron ore, accounting for 45% or 17Mt of the latter’s exports in 2013, followed by various European countries”
