Global silicone dioxide production capacity is estimated to reach 4.35 million tons in 2015.
Silicone dioxide has broad applications range from structural materials to microelectronics to components used in the food industry, the most notable products such as optical fibers which composed of high purity silica; semiconductors and variety of glass are also highly required silica.
In 2014, global production capacity was 4.22 million tons, included China’s contribution of near 2.5 million tons, which accounted for 59.5%, in addition, china is the largest global silicone dioxide manufacturer, the largest consumer as well, figures showed china used silica over one million ton per years, exceed the America, Japan and other developed countries.

The increase of production of silicone dioxide as result of down steam industries’ demands, especial increase in environment friendly tyres, silicone rubber etc, in addition, the manufacturers’ expansion.
In order to expand production, not only the Chinese top manufactures were seeking cooperation with other top manufactures, but also the foreign leading manufacturers were seeking their best partners. Evonik, the global largest silica manufacturer in Germany, announced cooperation with Zhongneng inc. (HK3800) to build a new factory in China, will start producing in 2016.
