Global lithium carbonate demand is about 180,000 tons in 2015, the price of lithium carbonate is also up to to 50,000 RMB per ton in August 2015 from 37,000 RMB per ton in August 2014.
The reason is because battery grade lithium carbonate demand have a a substantial increase of about 12,000 tons, but the main provider such as SQM, FMC and Rockwood did not expand the capacity base.
