“The expansion of the global knife industry is forecast to reach 6.7% p.a. in the coming years. Between 2008 and 2014 the market increased with an average annual growth of 6.2 %. Currently, hunting knives, butcher’s knives and other knives with fixed blades account for 39.8% of the global demand while the remaining market share is divided between pocket knives, pen knives and other knives with folding blades (24.8%), sets of knives (18.2%), table knives (10.3%), blades for knives (6.4%) and handles for knives (0.5%).
China, France, Germany, Japan and the United States represent the largest knife markets while the strongest annual growth is forecast to occur in Bangladesh (20.1%), Bolivia (15.4%), Azerbaijan (15.1%), Ethiopia (14.2%) and Estonia (13.8%).”
