“In early September 2015, the MIIT released the Standard Conditions of Li-ion Battery Industry; then in mid-September, the NDRC issued the Exposure Draft to the Policy on Recycling Technology for Electric Vehicle Power Storage Battery (2015 Version). These 2 polices attract wide attention and arouse hot discussion in the industry.

Standard Conditions of Li-ion Battery Industry to be implemented officially from 1 Oct.: to set industrial standards for the markets, especially regarding the production scale and product quality. The targets include Li-ion battery and related materials.

Exposure Draft to the Policy on Recycling Technology for Electric Vehicle Power Storage Battery (2015 Version) expected to be officially released in Q4: to build a recycling system that links the upstream to the downstream enterprises and for the first time clearly define the entities responsible for recycling.

CCM believes that the policies will help establish a favourable management system, which will be beneficial to the stable and sustainable development of the Li-ion battery and alternative energy vehicle industries that are now under rapid development.

According to statistics from the MIIT, the output of alternative energy vehicle in August was about 24,500, up by nearly 400% YoY. Further, the accumulative production reached 123,500 during January-August, up by 300% YoY.”
