September 2015 saw a number of policy changes in the global renewable power market. In the Americas, Brazil plans a twofold increase of it solar Photovoltaic (PV) target, to 7 Gigawatts (GW) by 2024. The bipartisan set of governors has recommended the US Senate Appropriations Committee restore investments for wind energy research. The California Legislature reinforced its clean energy laws via a target of 50% of power from renewable sources by 2030. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) announced its final Environmental Assessment (EA) for the wind energy lease sale in offshore North Carolina. Additionally, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) introduced competition, calling for bids for the procurement of resources to offer affordable and reliable energy.

In Asia-Pacific, China revised its 2015 solar PV target to 23.1 GW. Malaysia announced its aim to achieve a renewable energy share of 5.5% in 2015. In India, the Union Cabinet approved the National Offshore Wind Energy Policy, the state of Maharashtra approved a net metering solar rooftop policy, and the state of New Delhi announced its draft solar energy policy.

In Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Zambia is on the verge of introducing its Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff (REFIT) mechanism. In Finland, the government is planning to halt wind farm subsidies in November 2017. In the UK, a new leasing program has been launched for small-scale wave and tidal current sites, and Scotland has showcased its support for solar energy by maintaining its grandfathering policy. Finally, the first Iberian solar power auction took place on September 29, 2015.
