– Under the environment of transformation and upgrading, there is a trend that purified WPA replaces the thermal-process phosphoric acid. Besides, purified WPA is also a developing direction for the modern phosphorus chemical industry. Wet-process phosphoric acid (WPA) has been developing rapidly in China in recent years. For example, Guizhou Wengfu Group Co., Ltd. increased its annual production capacity of WPA from 100,000 t/a in 2003 to 1 million t/a at present. In addition, according to CCM, the production of WPA accounted 30% of Chinese total phosphate production in 2013, and this proportion increased to near 40% in 2014.

– Chinese comprehensive utilization of phosphogypsum is always the major focus of associations and media attention. Beside the environmental issues, the value of phosphogypsum is being slowly excavated in recent years, and many phosphorus chemical companies have achieved good outcome on the phosphogypsum utilization project.

After years of development, the fine degree in China’s fine phosphorus chemical industry has greatly improved, to the point that many products can also be fully produced in China. Furthermore, relying on an integrated industry chain, China has production cost advantages and is the major producer for many high-grade fine phosphorus chemicals in the world.

However, there are some major difficulties in the production of these high-grade fine phosphorus chemicals, such as improving purity, organic synthesis and application research. Regarding the latter, because of its slow development in domestic market, some high-grade products have been in an oversupply situation despite its huge market potential in China.

In this report, several high-grade phosphorus chemical products were chosen and their market situation analysed in detail. The list of researched products includes lithium hexafluorophosphate, electronic grade phosphoric acid, phosphorus flame retardant, high-grade yellow phosphorus, ,indium phosphide and tetrakis hydroxymethyl phosphonium sulfate. Among them, electronic grade phosphoric acid and lithium hexafluorophosphate are the ones most fit for investment.
