Automotive Clutch Market by Transmission Type (Manual Transmission, AT, AMT & CVT), Clutch Disc Size (Below 9 Inches, 9 Inches to 10 Inches, 10 Inches to 11 Inches & 11 Inches and above), and by Geography – Forecast and Analysis to 2019

Date: 2015-07

“A clutch is a mechanism that is used to connect the driving shaft to a driven shaft, so that the driven shaft may be started or stopped at will without stopping the driving shaft. A clutch thus provides a separable connection between two rotating shafts. It is used in a transmission system to connect the engine and the gear box so that the engine can be started or stopped while disengaging the transmission. Over the years, automotive clutches have evolved in line with the evolution in automotive technology. Initially, clutches were used only in manual transmission systems. Then came semi-automatic transmission systems such as DCTs and CVTs, and finally, fully automated transmissions were introduced. Moreover, the low cost associated with manual transmission clutches as compared to the torque convertors in automatic transmission is another factor that is anticipated to drive the automotive clutch market. However, the penetration of automatic transmission systems—wherein torque convertors replace clutches—is increasing and this is estimated to be a restraining growth factor for the automotive clutch market.

The global automotive clutch market is broadly segmented by Transmission Type (Manual Transmission, AT, AMT, & CVT), by Clutch Disc Size (below 9 inches, 9 to 10 inches, 10 to 11 inches, & 11 inches and above). The market is further segmented by region (Asia-Oceania, Europe, North America, and RoW), focusing on key countries in each region.
